In this project I had to write a proposal of an idea for a play with a partner, as well as creating a story board to go with it. We had to present it in front of our class to see if we could persuade people to help finish writing it with us.
Class play
In my opinion this project contrasted into a competition between the three other classes. After selecting the winning play of the class every classmate was given a roll to get stuff done to help with the play itself. The rolls included: Directing, writing the script, acting, backdrop, set design, sound/lighting. The play I worked on was the Red Card, and our social issue was gangs, parents pressuring you. Our story follows a girl whose dad starts pressuring her at a young age to try to get into soccer scholarships but she's getting tiered of it and wants to find new things. Her boyfriend is asking her to join his gang. She does but gets herself into problems. Before the project began Erin asked me to fix the play of all of its grammatical edits and after that I took role of the co- directer of the play. I also sketched and painted the backdrop. Even at the last few day when the set crew hadn't finished there fare share of work needed to get done with the play Erin gave me a roll to make sure everything had to get done. I learned that being a director of a play means you have all the responsibility on yourself and you have to make sure you don't mess it all up (It wasn't fun).
San Diego through the Lens
In this project I was paired up with three other people to make a documentary on a community in San Diego. We had to find research on this community and very annually organize it in a research binder. Now we also had to visit this community, to take pictures and interview the locals of all different ages. And after all of the studious work we had to make a documentary incorporating all of our research, pictures and interviews. In this project I cited all the resources my group used, I also provided transportation to our neighborhood. I also annotated the research my group found, and wrote the history part of our narration. I even went to many different libraries to find research on our project. In this project I tried to act different then I usually do in a group. Before I would act strict and rude, now I tried to be chill but still act like a leader and also show that I really care about the project. For the outcome of this change I can say that this was my favorite project I've ever been in because of my partners. Whether it was telling stupid jokes, playing with rubics cubes, or laughings at Uriel's strange comments, I had the best project ever. I honestly don't think I would change anything about the project, except to help Danny a bit more with the movie.
