At my first Internship at Pillars of the community I was uncertain whether I'd fit in. My fist impressions were fixated on one aspect: that the people were like me. However, those three people were very nice and we all had nice conversations as we were doing work. And I'm very appreciate to hear stuff about their lives and for them to want to know more about me.
At my second externship in Connecticut (Law firm). I just realized this while writing these words, appreciative for the same thing. I was uncertain about whether they'd want to talk to me, because they were all lawyers who's education is way superior to mine. However, Each lawyer was very interested in telling me about newly instated laws, book recommendations, and again, wanting to know more about what I want to do. The lawyers were very fun because nothing was awkward. Whenever I'd stutter on words they'd use a brash phrase like "Spit it out already" to break some silence. Perhaps it's just the way things on the east coast are handled.
One other person I'm thankful for is Tucker Cunningham. Upon visiting the coastal city New Haven my group decided to try to sneak on the Amistad: A century old ship. I was wondering whether people still take these ships out because that would be awesome. As we got closer to the ship we noticed someone on board. I said "Hello, do you think we can come on board?" The man, later to be known as Tucker said, "Yeah Sure". As I was walking around I noticed the other crew downstairs and a bunch of water on board. Later Tucker told me I could sail down to the Bahamas with him for the next summer if I let him know. Dream come true am I right?
